World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extended matchup where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this represents the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game drew 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series averaged 15.71M viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American average reached over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB reported that the World Series was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 different tongues.
